A series inspired by the pods of the flamboyant tree, a tropical species.
Following a workshop with dyers in Bamako in 2014, Ariane Bosquet learned the technique of ‘bougie’ (negative/positive imprint and melted wax). She had a local craftsman replicate the shape of the fruit pod in a wooden mould that she would use as a stamp. Her new creations are compositions that include imprints and pieces of the fruit itself on different media (paper, cardboard, fabric, metal) to achieve their ‘fossilisation’ by embedding them in these materials.
